Lottie Pours & Paws

Hi, friends—both furry and hooman! 🐾 It’s me, Lottie, the newest (and furriest) member of the Stomp Wines team, and I’m so excited to invite you all to a special day in my honour: Lottie Paws & Pours!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 30th, and trot over to Stomp Wines between 10am and 2pm for a fun, casual day filled with yummy sips and tail wags! Hoomans can enjoy a complimentary tasting of my very own wine, Lottie (yes, it’s named after yours truly 🐶), then buy a glass of wine and delicious cheeses and treats from our gourmet pantry to enjoy outdoors. We pups get to sip on “Cellar-Paw Dog Grog” (aka delicious bone broth) and snack on tasty dog biscuits.

Oh, and no need to make a booking—just show up, grab a treat, and have a blast! Don’t miss the chance to enter our fab raffle for a doggie-and-hooman hamper, with all proceeds plus 10% of "Lottie" wine sales going to DM Rescue —the amazing group that brought me to my furever home at Stomp Wines.

Let me tell you about my wine! "Lottie" is a sweet, tropical white blend that’s paw-fect for spring and summer days. It’s creamy, fruity, and oh-so-refreshing. And every bottle you enjoy helps my rescue friends at DM Rescue find more loving homes too!

So grab your hoomans and join me for a barking good time! Can’t wait to see you on November 30th! 🐶💜

Tail wags,
Lottie

Introducing Lottie

We’re thrilled to announce the release of our newest wine, lovingly named after our exuberant puppy, Lottie! This sweet white wine is as lively as Lottie herself, and we can’t wait for you to try it. With creamy tropical fruit flavors and just the right amount of sweetness, it’s the perfect companion for spring and summer days. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, enjoying some spicy food, or putting together a charcuterie board, this wine will add a fun and refreshing touch to your table.

What makes this release even more special is our partnership with DM Rescue - the amazing organisation that brought Lottie into our lives. DM Rescue focuses on rescuing working dog breeds and their mixes, giving them the second chance they deserve, by finding them safe, secure, loving homes. We’re proud to donate 10% of all proceeds from Lottie's wine to support their life-saving work.

You can meet Lottie herself when you visit our Cellar Door, where this wine will be available for tasting and purchase. Starting this October, Lottie’s wine will also be available to order online. This is the perfect opportunity to not only sip something delicious but also support an incredible cause.

Cheers to Lottie, and cheers to helping more pups find their forever homes!

Long Weekend & School Holiday Planning

The long weekend (and school holidays) are creeping up on us very quickly, and there's nothing worse than not being ready when they arrive.

To help we've put together a to do list, to make the preparation that little bit easier, and so you can relax the minute school's out.

TWO WEEKS OUT

Are you planning a trip to the valley? It's a beautiful time to visit, the vines are all bursting with new growth, the temperature is perfect, there are plenty of activites for the kids (big & little)

  • Book your accomodation. winecountry.com.au is a great resource for accomodation, restaurants, and activities. There's a great range from small cabins hidden in the bush, to resorts with all the facilities you could need. You can also stay onsite at Madigan Wine Country Cottages. Book direct and mention Stomp and they'll look after you.
  • Our restaurants book out quickly, especially on a long weekend so we'd highly recommend bookng these in advance. A few of our favourites are The Deck Cafe (amazing for Brunch), Jimmy Joans for a relaxed drink & snacks (and plenty of room for the kids to run around outdoors), The Gates at Leogate for something a little more formal and Bimbadgen Pizzeria for delicious wood fired pizza as the sun goes down.

Need wine for that week or weekend away? For entertaining at home?

  • Get in and order some wine now & we'll have them delivered to your doorstep. Our new release 2024 Verdelho & 2024 Fiano are the perfect drops for Spring, don't forget some Early Release Shiraz & Merlot for the BBQ

ONE WEEK OUT

  • Book a few Cellar Door experiences. Stomp! Wines offers a range of outdoor (and indoor, if required) experiences to include wine & cheese, wine & chocolate or wine & fresh fruit. We also have some great outdoor games for those not interested in tasting. Mix it up & include some wineries that you know & love, with some you've never tried before.
  • Book activities for the kids. Hunter Valley Gardens offers a great program for the littlies, and there's horse riding, smash room, Hunter Valley Wildlife Park & more for the big kids.

On the home front

  • Pack your wines for the week away
  • Plan your entertaining, invite your guests & let us know if you need a hand pairing the perfect wine to your menu.

You've made it.... now all you need to do is relax.

Fireside Flashback

What a lovely evening we all had at Fireside Tasting 2024, so many great memories.

We've collated a few happy snaps so those that joined us can reminisce, & to tempt those that couldn't join us this year, to add it to their 2025 calendar.

It was beautiful, but chilly weather, perfect for rugging up outdoors for an evening by the fire.

Everyone took the evening at their own pace with some enjoying a jenga challenge, others sitting back taking in the magical guitar work by Mark Henderson, whilst watching the sun slip away behind the majestic Brokenback Mountains.

In addition to a selection of our current range of wines Michael shared treats from the tank and Cellar including:

  • our newly released 2024 Verdelho,
  • the soon to be bottled, straight from the tank 2024 Fiano,
  • our Limited Release 2023 Shiraz out of barrel,
  • and a favourite, the Limited Release 2017 Shiraz from the Cellar.

Toasted Marshmallows were enjoyed with a glass of Tawny or Muscat before it was time to head home. It was a huge, exhausting evening meeting lots of new friends for our new little pup, Lottie. She did finally sleep when we got her home.

We hope to see you at 2025 Stomp! Fireside tasting. Keep an eye on our Socials or join the mailing list for next year's date.

"The Fireside Tasting was sooo much more than we expected. Thank you" - Happy guests review

Winter Update

IN THE WINERY

From the outside it can seem as though Winter is the time we kick back, sip on wines and relax. Far from it, the reality is, we’re still busy blending, bottling and planning for the next season.

Our 2024 whites are now ready for bottle. Starting with unoaked styles such as Semillon, Verdelho & Rose. We like to get these into bottle as soon as possible to capture their purity & beautiful fruit vibrancy. These wines will be released shortly with 2024 Verdelho available now. Our Chardonnay will take longer, spending time in a mix of new & old oak, with bottling in Summer.

In between tending our 2024 reds, Michael is also blending and preparing our 2023 reds for bottling. The first of these to be bottled will be our brand new 2023 Chambourcin. An exciting addition to our range, Michael is busy making the last adjustments to this still wine in readiness for it's release in October. Chambourcin is a rich full bodied red with a palate packed with loads of mulberry, blackberry fruits & spice, finishing with lovely soft tannins. We can’t wait to share it with you later this year.

CELLAR DOOR

It's been lovely welcoming our members & cellar door visitors over the last few months. We've had fun with Pottery & Wine classes, resulting in some very talented potters making beautiful, small bowls & plates, with more classes booked a little later in the year. For those that haven't joined us we are lucky to have Hunter Valley Ceramics partner with us for these classes offering a raft of tips, tricks & directive.

Our visitors have been asking us about chocolate & wine pairings, & if this really can be achieved so we've introduced a Wine & Chocolate Experience to our line up of experiences available in Cellar Door. Partnering with Hunter Valley Chocolate Company we've created perfect matches with their premium chocolates. Think Milk Chocolate Strawberries & Cream with Stomp! Rose, or White Chocolate Lime & Coconut with Stomp! Fiano. Next time you are in the Valley book an experience & let us know what you think.

Prefer your wines with a more savoury accompaniment? We still offer our very popular Local Cheese Platters with cheeses from local Binnorie Dairy.

Book your experience here.

Annual Stomp 2024

What a fun bunch of people! We loved our 2024 winemaking apprentices.

Everyone lent a hand testing alcohol levels & ripeness. We had stiff competition for the best blend with our budding winemakers looking the part in their lab coats & glasses. Marketing, team names & t-shirt design were all approached with incredible seriousness, creativity & team work. We had presentations of notes from our "Chief Winemakers", and a VERY entertaining Rap (complete with dance) presented by the winning team.

But it wasn't until the stomping started that things really stepped up a notch. So much stomping, squishing, grape throwing, plunging (of one's body!), loads of laughter & icky, sticky, grapey memories.

We can't wait for you to join us at next year's Annual Stomp 2025. Save the date 8 March, 2025.

Tickets available now!

Festive Sangria Recipe

Sangria - a light, fruity, fun drink with the ability to dial the alcohol content up or down. With Christmas just around the corner, I can't help but think this could be the perfect festive drink. Sounds like a great excuse to share a recipe and start making Spain's most celebrated cocktail!

Ingredients:
1 green apple - cored and chopped
1 lemon or lime - thinly sliced
1 orange - thinly sliced (slices can be quartered if you'd prefer them smaller)
1/3 cup raspberries (or strawberries if you'd prefer. These can be sliced smaller)
1 bottle of red wine - a fruity, light, low tann style (we recommend our Stomp 2021 Early Release Shiraz)
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Brandy
Sweetener if needed (something like maple syrup or brown sugar)

Method:

  • Place all fruits in a pretty, decorative jug.
  • Pour in all liquids and stir
  • Chill overnight to ensure optimal infusion of all flavours.
  • Serve in pretty glasses filled with ice. (To add a more festive touch freeze ice cubes in Christmas-themed silicone moulds. Fruit, herbs or edible flowers can be added to the moulds to make your ice cubes look even more festive.)
  • Topping with sparkling water is optional

NB: Will keep in refrigerator for a couple of days.
