Broke Fordwich, Hunter Valley
This is one of Michael's moments - although the Hunter Valley is not renowned for it's fortifieds he thought he'd have a little fun seeing what he could craft. And we're so glad he did. This Tawny has an amazing following and we can hardly keep up with it's production.
Made from ripe Shiraz, the grapes are partially fermented before the fermenting juice is drained off the skins. The juice is then fortified using brandy spirit and filled into oak barrels. Here it matures for approximately seven years prior to bottling.
This luscious Tawny displays an intense spirited nose with rich, vibrant red fruit characters. The palate is long and intense with rich spice, raisin and sultana characters. It’s the perfect after dinner drink matched with some mature vintage cheese and our Chilli Jam.
